Ignite on remote Tape drive ?

System ABC has local DDS drive. Can I do something like below from system XYZ ?

make_recovery -Av -d abc:/dev/rmt/0m ?

in other words, Can I create Ignite Image on the remote system's DDS drive ?

Re: Ignite on remote Tape drive ?

No, but you can make a box an Ignite server and do a net recovery. The command is make_net_recovery.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: Ignite on remote Tape drive ?

Nope! Sorry, that won't work. It would be a nice feature though.

The only thing you can do is use the make_net_recovery feature and create a make_net_recovery archive of your tapeless system, onto your system with the tape drive. Then you can take that archive and put it onto a tape and make the tape bootable.

There are details on how to do this in: /opt/ignite/share/doc/makenetrec.txt

Re: Ignite on remote Tape drive ?

No.... make_net_recovery is the closest....

Here is a link to the on-line Ignite documentation.

Re: Ignite on remote Tape drive ?

Ignite tape to remote tape drive is not possible.

Use make_net_recovery to create a image on the ignite server then you can create a bootable tape from there.

check the document at

/opt/ignite/share/doc/makenetrec.txt
which has the information
