Ignite options on 10.20 client of 11.00 server
Hi to all
I am having a problem with 10.20 clients of a server running 11.00. What I would like to achieve is two archiving options for the 10.20 client, namely, make_net_recovery to the server, and also the make_tape_recovery to local dat tape drive. Ignite version B.3.7.96 is installed on both client and server. Network archive is successful, but make_tape_recovery returns the same error whether run from the command line or from the Ignite server GUI - "make_medialif: error - /opt/ignite/data/Rel_B.10.20/SYSCMDS does not exist"
Another 10.20 machine that has the 10.20 ignite version A.3.7.95 installed, will archive to tape but not across the network to the 11 server. The error log is attached, but basically says that to run a net recovery an update of the ignite software from the server is required.
Is it possible to retain both archiving options on the 10.20 client. ?

Re: Ignite options on 10.20 client of 11.00 server
Please check if IGNITE patch is installed on the server:
PHSS_27407
s700_800 11.00 Ignite-UX make_medialif patch
If not, you can download it from:
ftp://europe-ffs.external.hp.com
---> hp-ux_patches
---> S700_800
---> 11.x
That should fix your problem.

Armin

Re: Ignite options on 10.20 client of 11.00 server
Not sure if it is possible as we gave up on finding a combined solution. It just did not work as you have also found out.
We ending up having both a 10.20 server and an 11 server. We only have a few 10.20 machines left and they should all be gone in a few months.
While we could have spent more people time getting it to work, it was much easier to just have the extra server. And it only takes a C110 for a server, which is a really cheap machine. We have lots of them sitting around that were replaced with larger machines.

Re: Ignite options on 10.20 client of 11.00 server
Thanks for the patch suggestion - swinstall reports an analysis error :
The patch fileset "PHSS_27407.MGMT-TOOLS,r=1.0" may only be
installed upon a previously installed base fileset. The
specification for this base fileset is
"Ignite-UX.MGMT-TOOLS,fr=B.3.7.95,v=HP". Since there is no
fileset on the target or selected from the source which
matches this specification, fileset
"PHSS_27407.MGMT-TOOLS,r=1.0" will be excluded.
I'm wondering if this means that the patch was intended to fix a known problem in B.3.7.95 and if so why is it ocurring in B.3.7.96 ??
