I installed ignite about 3 years ago - and I remember downloading the main package - only to find I needed to download some kind of configuration packages related to what versions of HPUX I wanted to make images of... for instance.... if I wanted to make an image of an hpux 11.11 box I would need to have the config package for 11.11.
I just don't remember what these extra packages are called, for all I know they're already included in the latest version of ignite (whereas before they were not)...
How were the 'packages' referred to?

SolutionIf you wish to support multiple operating system version with Ignite, simply download the main Ignite bundle, otherwise select the one(s) you need.
You can select "all 3 bundles" or only one for 11.11, 11.23 or 11.31. Go to:

Re: Ignite packages question....
# swlist|grep -i ignite
# Contacting target "ignite"...
# Target: ignite:/
IGNITE C.7.3.144 HP-UX Installation Utilities (Ignite-UX)
Ignite-UX-11-23 C.7.3.144 HP-UX Installation Utilities for Installing 11.23 Systems
Ignite-UX-11-31 C.7.3.144 HP-UX Installation Utilities for Installing 11.31 Systems
Is the 'package' "HP-UX Installation Utilities (Ignite-UX)" listing speaking of the main ignite package?
Why does HP obfuscate the simplest of things?

Yes.

I agree, the nomenclature used with Ignite has never seemed to be the most desirable.

Re: Ignite packages question....
IGNITE C.7.3.144 HP-UX Installation Utilities (Ignite-UX)
Ignite-UX-11-23 C.7.3.144 HP-UX Installation Utilities for Installing 11.23 Systems
Ignite-UX-11-31 C.7.3.144 HP-UX Installation Utilities for Installing 11.31 Systems
The latter two depots permit you to boot systems off the Ignite server and rebuild them.
The first one is what a server needs to back itself up to an Ignite server.
There is not installed on this system a depot similar to the last two for 11.11 HP-UX.
Seems HP segmented the functionality to allow lower overhead and volume of installed software.
