Re: Ignite recovery thr. LTO ultrium

boot the system and interrupt the autoboot process . it will prompt at main menu >

Enter the command

Main menu > sea ipl

Above command will search the IPl devices and u can find ur tape drive line started with P(X) number . boot the tape

Main menu > bo PX ==>X is the number

Restoration will happen

Re: Ignite recovery thr. LTO ultrium

Ankur,

on PA-RISC interrupt at BCH

if you know the hardware path of the tape you can directly enter
bo 0/0/1/0.3 (for example)

else enter SEA IPL
you will get the tape listed "sequential access media", then enter
bo p# (# of tape path)

follow instructions....

on IA-64 you will have to boot from an install DVD, if a tape is recognized you can then select to recover from tape

Re: Ignite recovery thr. LTO ultrium

And most important: do NOT use Ignite/UX that came with your system. Always download the current version. Ignite/UX is critically dependent on hardware including CPU, disks and disk interfaces, LAN cards and tape drives. Older versions of Ignite/UX do not know anything about an Ultrium tape.

Re: Ignite recovery thr. LTO ultrium

The recovery procedure is a little different if your system is Itanium or PA-RISC.

make_tape_recovery creates the archive, and I can tell you I've booted and recovered numerous systmes using Ignite. Ignite is truly a sysadmin's best friend.
