1. Stop all applications and databases running in the host.
2. Take full file system backup of the host.
3. Take ignite backup of the system including entire VG00
4. Halt the system and remove the secondary mirror disk and remove fiber cables to the storage array.
5. Boot through ignite tape and extend /, stand and /var file systems in the primary disk.
6. once the installation is over, attach the secondary disk and mirror it.
Ignite backup is taken when the root disk in mirrored state. So when I recover it using ignite tape with only primary disk in available state, I am afraid that it may search for secondary disk and since that disk is not available, it may take another disk
from another volume group. Some of my colleagues had mentioned that they have faced such issues.
Can you please review the above plan and provide your suggestions ?

Re: Ignite recovery to extend root file systems
Plan is fully intact.
Important thing is follow the plan step by step, while starting take the tape ignite then reduce the mirror. Otherwise ignite will fail.
do step 1 to 6
Once the installation is done go ahead to mirror the disk.
Hope u will complete the activity successfully.

Solution1. Stop all applications and databases running in the host.
i would recommend to you get the current configuration with some script or cfg2html, SysInfo
backup the VG's ID
2. Take full file system backup of the host.
offline backup is very good idea
3. Take ignite backup of the system including entire VG00
some people using -x inc_entire=vg00
4. Halt the system and remove the secondary mirror disk and remove fiber cables to the storage array.
in tis step ( remove the second mirror disk ??? ( you like to redoce the LV's and them VG, or just shutdown the system put it in offline and them start the system with one missed disk ??? )
and them make the step 3 ??
removing the FC cables will improve the scannig of the disk and installation process
5. Boot through ignite tape and extend /, stand and /var file systems in the primary disk.
6. once the installation is over, attach the secondary disk and mirror it.
# i think your procedure is correct.

Re: Ignite recovery to extend root file systems
Hi Mikap:- I will shutdown the system and put the secondary mirrored disk offline. I will not reduce it from VG00.
Is that fine ?
