Re: Ignite stops a ISL prompt

Hi,
Did you see anything for "sea ipl" command. May be the boot area on the disk of A500 got corrupted.

Main Menu> sea ipl

Does this list your internal hdd.

Then try listing the files under /stand from isl prompt.

ISL> hpux ll /stand
See if you can boot with another copy of kernel if it is there in the stand.
ISL> hpux /stand/vmunix.prev

Just cross check the commands before you execute.

Re: Ignite stops a ISL prompt

Eric,

I am cloning the server via an external tape device.
The A500 is down when i create the tape.
I don't have to define a ignite server on the L1000.
I am using the command
make_tape_recovery -x inc_entire=vg00 -I -v

Re: Ignite stops a ISL prompt

Luk,

Ignite if for recovery propose, not for new installations on other servers. I'm not telling you it won't work but, why don't you make a new install on this A500??

Re: Ignite stops a ISL prompt

Luk,

when you recovered using the tape, did you go into the "Additional" tab and selected "Cloning to diff HW" true ?

Then what errors it gives you when you say:
Main Menu: Enter command or menu > bo P1

Re: Ignite stops a ISL prompt

The problem is solved after the following actions

1) install latest hpux11.00 patch bundle (March 2004)
2) Install Ignite C.6.1.44, I had to download the full bundle ,not only the HPUX 11.00 version
