I configured an Ignite-Server and added my new system as a Client. I then attempted to 'Create a Network Recovery Archive' but it failed when it couldn't find a tape drive.
Is there any way to create recovery images either directly onto the Ignite-Server or even locally onto disk without having a tape drive. Even if I could create the file on disk and ftp it to a central location and if it were ever needed I could cut a tape and install a temporary external tape drive.

SolutionYou shouldn't need to have a tape drive when doing network Ignites. I would start with the man page for make_net_recovery and explore there first. Also make sure you've got the latest version of Ignite:

Re: Ignite without tapes, possible?
Cut golden images with make_sys_image
Cut network backups with make_net_recovery
The config guide tells how to set up an image server, which isn't all that hard.

Now all I need to do is get all of the servers on the same version of Ignite :-(
