Is the ignite mini-kernel to boot clients the same for HP-UX 10.20, 11.00 and 11i.
If it is not the same, how the correct version is chosen?

There is only 1 booted kernel (/opt/ignite/boot/INSTALL). However, different versions of Ignite have different booted kernel.

The mini kernel is different for each OS.

You really are bootine a special Ignite kernel when you boot a machine off the Ignite server. Even if your eventual purpose is to load the core 10.20 HP-UX OS, you are booting off the Ignite server and its OS for the intial boot.

As has already been stated "No" the kernels are different.

I experianced a problem on older FC cards with the latest ignite, all appeared ok on making the image but on testing it the kernel could not deal with these older cards.

To resolve this, these server used an older version of ignite with no problems.

The A version of the Ignite mini-kernel is 10.x based and is different from the B version.

The B version before 3.x is 11.0 kernel and from B.3.x onwards it is 11.11 kernel.

The B version has 3 kernels:

INSTALL for 32-bit capable systems
WINSTALL for 64-bit only systems
VINSTALL for V-class systems

There is also a 4th kernel for Itanium systems which is IINSTALL available from B.4.x and is 11.22 based.
