Itanium 11.23 Ignite Boot

I know there are a lot of threads about this, but none seem to go through the actual steps. I need to perform a network boot if an itanium 11.23 server from a PARisc Ignite server that contains an image backup of the itanium 11.23 server. I'm old school, PARisc. Does anybody have the steps to be performed? I would be forever grateful! Crunching to meet a deadline and didn't realize the process was differet :|

Thanks!

Re: Itanium 11.23 Ignite Boot

Shalom,

1) Install the Ignite package from http://software.hp.com or Core OS or Application DVD, to support boot from Ignite for the OS involved.

2) Make sure the PA-RISC box is on the same subnet

3) Boot the PA-RISC box

4) Interrupt the boot at the 10 second prompt.

5) Bo

6) Y to the Interactive question.

7) boot lan.ipaddressof11.23server install
ex boot lan.192.168.0.10 install

Note however you can't boot and run a system like this, you can only boot and install an OS or perform ignite recovery this way.

Hi Michelle,

Take a look on this whitepaper

Re: Itanium 11.23 Ignite Boot

SEP is telling you the PA process, you probably alrady know that.

Do look at the white paper mentioned for some Itanium lan boot steps.

The Itanium process can vary somewhat and is dependent on the server model/firmware version you have and could also require some additional /etc/bootptab setup on your Ignite server side.
