Make_recovery error

Hi,
Running 10.2 I am getting an error message every time I am trying to use make_recovery. I have tried several new tape's and different /dev/rmt/0 options with no luck.

my exact command is /make_recovery -A -d /dev/rmt/omn

the error message is

HP-UX System Recovery
Going to create the tape
make_recovery (472): /usr/bin/dd failed,res=512, errno = 0

this occures after about 10 minutes into execution.

any ideas what the error measn and where can I go to understand the error messages.

As always, thanks for the help.

Re: Make_recovery error

If this is your exact command, then it is wrong ;-) not "o" but "0" (zero):

make_recovery -A -d /dev/rmt/0mn

I don't remember
the option for the 10.20 version, sorry. Maybe -d was for device.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Make_recovery error

Yes,
That should have been a zero, I did use zero when typing the command and -d is for device.

thanks

Re: Make_recovery error

Ok Thanks,

the log files say I/O read error, so I guess it is my tape drive that is faulty.

Re: Make_recovery error

Try to clean the drive, use another new tape and finally replace the drive.

Good luck!
