N Class recovery tape on rp7410

Can this be done? My customer is using a 11.11 tape created from an N-class server with just vg00 and trying to load it on a 7410. It gets past the PAX statement, spins for a while then says it can't load OS archive.

Hi,

the n-Class (aka rp7400) is a non-cell based system, the rp7410 is a cell-based system.
This is in fact a big difference.

You may try to enable the "install on different hardware" option in the interactive config screen after booting the tape, but not sure if this works.

Please come back with the results.

I would suggest Ignite Golden images as an alternative.

Ignite Golden images are software images that eliminate hardware dependencies by including a Core OS in the image.

This would let you take the basic configuation and software of one system to another.

They got it to work and it was the "New Hardware" option that seemed to do the trick. Thanks for the suggestions.

The suggestions worked and the "golden image" which was probably a better option was not needed.
