I am using a very old version of Ignite on my production servers:
# swlist -l bundle |grep -i ignite
B5725AA B.1.59 HP-UX Installation Utilities (Ignite-UX)
Ignite-UX-11-00 B.1.51 HP-UX Installation Utilities for Installing 11.00 Systems
Operating system version is HP-UX 11.00.
I decided to upgrade Ignite to the latest version and downloaded the file Ignite-UX_All_C.6.1.44.depot which is about 200MB. I upgraded one of my test servers to this version by selecting *only* these packages:
B5725AA C.6.1.44 HP-UX Installation
Utilities (Ignite-UX)
Ignite-UX-11-00 C.6.1.44 HP-UX Installation
Utilities for Installing 11.00 Systems
After the installation, the size of the "ignite" directory under "/opt" became larger than 300MB:
# du -sk /opt/ignite
333361 /opt/ignite
The old version was around 80MB:
# du -sk /opt/ignite
84143 /opt/ignite
Due to disk space limitations I do NOT want Ignite to take so much space on my systems.
Is there a way to reduce this usage (by not selecting some filesets)? Note that, we are not planning to use network recovery or any kind of Ignite installation server.
For example I see in the following output:
# swlist -l fileset | grep -i ignite
# Ignite-UX C.6.1.44 HP-UX System Installation Services
Ignite-UX.BOOT-COMMON-IA C.6.1.44 Common Boot Components for IPF clients
Ignite-UX.BOOT-COMMON-PA C.6.1.44 Common Boot Components for PA-RISC clients
Ignite-UX.BOOT-KRN-11-00 C.6.1.44 Installation Boot Kernel for B.11.00 clients
Ignite-UX.BOOT-KRN-11-11 C.6.1.44 Installation Boot Kernel for B.11.11 clients
Ignite-UX.BOOT-KRN-11-22 C.6.1.44 Installation Boot Kernel for B.11.22 IPF clients
Ignite-UX.BOOT-KRN-11-23 C.6.1.44 Installation Boot Kernel for B.11.23 clients
Ignite-UX.BOOT-SERVICES C.6.1.44 Network Boot Services for System Installations
Ignite-UX.CFG-FILE-11-22 C.6.1.44 File Archives Used By Clients During HP-UX Install
Ignite-UX.FILE-SRV-11-00 C.6.1.44 File Archives Used By Clients During HP-UX Install
Ignite-UX.FILE-SRV-11-11 C.6.1.44 File Archives Used By Clients During HP-UX Install
Ignite-UX.FILE-SRV-11-23 C.6.1.44 File Archives Used By Clients During HP-UX Install
Ignite-UX.FILESRV-1122IA C.6.1.44 File Archives Used By Clients During HP-UX Install
Ignite-UX.IGNITE C.6.1.44 Graphical Ignite User Interface for Installations
Ignite-UX.IGNT-ENG-A-MAN C.6.1.44 Ignite-UX Manual Pages
Ignite-UX.MGMT-TOOLS C.6.1.44 Tools for Managing Data Files on an Ignition Server
Ignite-UX.OBAM-RUN C.6.1.44 User Interface Libraries Needed for Older Systems
Ignite-UX.RECOVERY C.6.1.44 System disaster recovery tools
that some of the filesets are not needed in our environment.

Solution
Hi,
Download these two version from the software page and install them.
HP-UX 11.00 only
HP-UX 11i v1 (B.11.11) only
You will need the 11.11 because of a small bug, you can skipp the other versions.
Hope this helps,
Robert-Jan

Re: New version of Ignite takes up too much space on disk!
swremoved all Ignite filesets; installed first Ignite-UX-11-11_C.6.1.44_HP-UX_B.11.00_32_64.depot and then Ignite-UX-11-00_C.6.1.44_HP-UX_B.11.00_32_64.depot (this is due to bug mentioned above).
Now I have the following filesets (as expected):
# swlist -l fileset | grep -i ignite
# Ignite-UX C.6.1.44 HP-UX System Installation Services
Ignite-UX.BOOT-COMMON-PA C.6.1.44 Common Boot Components for PA-RISC clients
Ignite-UX.BOOT-KRN-11-00 C.6.1.44 Installation Boot Kernel for B.11.00 clients

Ignite-UX.MGMT-TOOLS C.6.1.44 Tools for Managing Data Files on an Ignition Server
Ignite-UX.OBAM-RUN C.6.1.44 User Interface Libraries Needed for Older Systems
Ignite-UX.RECOVERY C.6.1.44 System disaster recovery tools
and less disk usage:
# du -sk /opt/ignite
127192 /opt/ignite
Now I have the following filesets (as expected):
