Re: Not able to boot the PA-RISC server through Ignite.

No idea why there is no "default" LAN interface

>> ERROR: No bootable LAN device found in the default location: 10/0/0/1/0

and you did not tell what server it is.

However, why not doing the "2-step-method" - booting from install DVD and restore from ignite backup?

Hope this helps!

Re: Not able to boot the PA-RISC server through Ignite.

The SEA command in some older PARISC servers cannot identify LAN cards as bootable -- it was originally designed for disks and tapes. The command:

boot lan.12.34.56.78 install

This will work as long as your Ignite network server is on the same subnet and it has been properly setup as an install server. As suggested, you can use your Install DVD to boot from or create a CD that will boot your server to the Ignite menu where you can enter the server address and gateway/router information.

>> boot 10/0/5/1/0/6/0 install

This will not work as the IP address is required to boot.

What is the model of the client you are booting, and what does sea return?

Have you ever been able to boot from this Ignite server before?

Re: Not able to boot the PA-RISC server through Ignite.

Hi,

Both the server (Ignite and the Booting) are B.11.11 U 9000/800.

Main Menu: Enter command or menu > sea

Searching for potential boot device(s) on the core cell
This may take several minutes.

To discontinue search, press any key (termination may not be immediate).

Re: Not able to boot the PA-RISC server through Ignite.

So what happens if you do a 'bo p3' after running the SEA?
