Q: Removing older Ignite-UX versions

For whatever reason, I have a server with various dissimilar versions on it (7.3.94 and 7.3.144).

I want to clean this mess up and install the newer 7.6.100.

If I remove (swremove) and then wipe the /opt/ignite (& var/opt/ignite) directory, what becomes of the previously made ignite tapes? Null and void?

The Ignite tapes are just a tar backup (actually a pax backup but tar for simplicity's sake) and therefore should still be readable by whatever version you have.

Should I then leave the /var/opt/ignite directories since those are the images from the previous tape runs?

Re: Q: Removing older Ignite-UX versions

I'm not sure why you would want to go back to these older Ignite tapes anyway. To my way of thinking, I would install the new version, then use it to create a new tape and that's what I would be hanging on to, not the old ones.
