I'll be recovering an A500 ignite make-recovery tape onto a N4000 ... Is this possible? Is there enough of a difference between the A and N archetectures where this would not be possible or would add difficulty to the Recovery?
Thanks

Re: Recovering an A500 to a N4000 for DR Puposes from ignite tape
First make sure you're using the latest version of Ignite:

With the recent versions of Ignite, this is, as a rule, not only possible but probable.

Re: Recovering an A500 to a N4000 for DR Puposes from ignite tape
There are major differences in the hardware infrastructure so you will have to interupt the Ignite Interface while recovering and make some changes.
Its surely faster than doing a cold installation, but you will have to take your time and be methodical about it.

SolutionMost likely, device files will change because of the difference in the hardware. You'll need to do some work straightening out volume groups that think they belong on devices that aren't there. Other than that and reviewing logical volume sizing for the root VG, that should be about it.
