Restore between hardwares

Hi,

I have some old N/L class servers running 11.11, I want to restore them on a RP4440.

After restoring I get:
panic: all VFS_MOUNTROOTs failed: NEED DRIVERS ?????

I saw some threads telling to add scsi drivers.
Can you please help adding the driver ?
Or if there is any procedure for restoring between hardwares ?

Thanks ahead,
Ilia.

Re: Restore between hardwares

Hi,

What restore means? Whole system or some specific logical volumes?

Re: Restore between hardwares

I'm talking about vg00.

The rest of the vg's are on tha san, so i'll redirect those vgs to the restored system.

Re: Restore between hardwares

Did you use ignite or something else?

Did you patch the source system before creating the backup?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Restore between hardwares

I guess that you clone the vg00 was done with make_tape_recovery tool.

Please check this case:

Re: Restore between hardwares

I used IGNITE's make_net_recovery, and I don't have lvm mirrors or thomething like it.

I didnt patch the system before the backup/restore procedure.

If I understand it corectly I need something like a new initrd in linux, am I right ?

Re: Restore between hardwares

First of all you should install the latest patches on the source system, just in case some hardware of the destination system is not supported by the "old" drivers.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Restore between hardwares

As Torsten says you probably need to update or add new drivers. Among them, and probably HBAs
