Re: Which lan interface to boot off?

I am working off the serial console A. not VGA. I think the conconfig output looks good.

Re: Which lan interface to boot off?

Hi

I've attached a Custom Confirguration Guide for Ignite. While reading it discusses and old war cry, autonegotiation of speed and duplex for NIC's during the installation, and after the kernel.

No.

If you use the COM1 built-in serial port you are NOT connected to the console!

You need to use the MP console port!!!

Hope this helps!

Re: Which lan interface to boot off?

Serial A is the only option for me, given that I am using remote console. It is working, after all, it only stops working after a while when I get to that line, after it downloads the kernel.

Re: Which lan interface to boot off?

If you are telnetting to the MP/console, then you are not using Serial A - that, IIRC, is the serial port on the motherboard, not the one the MP presents to the system via PCI.

Re: Which lan interface to boot off?

Well here is a pic attached showing how it's connected, for either the remote console or the dumb terminal.

Does this correlate well with the conconfig settings?

Re: Which lan interface to boot off?

This is an rx2620, right?

Look at this manufacturer's diagram and tell me if you aren't hooked into the MP's 10/100 network port? And not the 10/100/1000 server ports?

Re: Which lan interface to boot off?

Yes, that's a 2620.

I don't think my remote console connection would work if I plugged into the MP port, the one on the far left.
