Re: Why is the "FAILURE" message outputted?

Hi!

You should have a closer look at the Ignite install.log file. Scan it for any "ERROR" messages.

Re: Why is the "FAILURE" message outputted?

We often see the FAILURE Message when recovering from an ignite tape (usually for testing purposes) but this is almost never fatal for us - its only really a warning that something didnt work as intended. Weve always had a working, bootable, system even if we get this FAILURE message.

Re: Why is the "FAILURE" message outputted?

Hi there,
thank you for your help.

i checked the "/var/opt/ignite/local/install.log".
as the result of the logfile, it seems to cause the "/usr/sbin/vgcfgbackup" ERROR.
(see the attachment logfile)

but, where does not understand whether it is a problem...
what case is this error occured??

Re: Why is the "FAILURE" message outputted?

Hi,

In your case it simply means that you have a problem with 2 disks of your vg01 volume. You would get the same messages when trying to activate the vg. This shouldn't impact the recovery process of your system.

Re: Why is the "FAILURE" message outputted?

It senses some missing disks

Just do a

vgchange -a y
to include any missing volumes and activate the volume group

Re: Why is the "FAILURE" message outputted?

so, it means i shuld do after getting the system backup tape enter the "vgchange -a y vg00" & "vgchange -a y vg01".
after that,i try to recover the system it.
is it right? (is ignite "OK" message outputted?)

and...
the reappearance method in this case isn't known well.
