Re: change ignite server

Well the attachment doesn't explain anything. What method are you using to launch this restore?

Re: change ignite server

I think L-DERLYN means, how to change the pre-assigned Ip address of the ignite server.
I would be interested in, too :-))

The new ignite server has a new Ip address, but with boot lan... the old address still appears.

Re: change ignite server

When you do a boot lan.111.222.333.444 then that should be the IUX server used for the recovery.

I'm still not understanding this question.

Is the IUX server entered with the boot lan command the same server that was used to create the recovery image?

Re: change ignite server

Yes, the network configuration will direct the client to the IP address specified for the ignite server. If you need to restore an os image that is on the other ignite server, then you would need to copy the client directory from /var/opt/ignite/clients and the recovery image to the same locations on the new server.

Hope this helps,

Re: change ignite server

If it were me, maybe I would remove and then reinstall the Ignite software on the new host.

But I think I know what you are referring to. There are config files that declare the IP address of the Ignite server. My installing from a backup tape, these files did not change. Here's a manual way to change it:

instl_adm -d > /tmp/cfg.tmp
vi /tmp/cfg.tmp
Set the "server=" parameter to the proper IP address.
instl_adm -f /tmp/cfg.tmp

Note this is is only the first place. There could be MANY other local config files (depending on your setup) that will still have the old IP address.

Re: change ignite server

Hi again,

@Scot - yes man, that's the command we need!

L- you can also use 'instl_adm -t '.
See 'man instl_adm'.
With 'instl_adm -d' you can check the change.

Scot - 10 pts. from me :-)
L- a very good question :-))
