This may not be related to the clone, but you should say how you did it and post any messages you saw during the process.
Its possible you made a mistake at a prompt or that something unrelated went wrong at a really inconvenient time.

panic: set_machine_parameters_64: Unidentified cpu type returned from PDC_MODEL
This is a bit of a nightmare - I have to do a lot of similar builds ... any ideas would be much appreciated ...

Re: cloning an L1000 or L2000 to an rp5470?
On the "source" machine you should install the Hardware Enablement patch bundle. Yours does not know about the new CPU model. You can use a relatively new one for this. Always just make sure to make an ignite tape before installing any patches.

PHCO_23169
which looks like the one I need - any comments? This would be very nice since it's a no-reboot patch and I really can't get downtime to install reboot-patches on many production L2000s ...

Re: cloning an L1000 or L2000 to an rp5470?
But if you can get it to boot of the different hardware you can off course install the HWE patches on the new system.
It looks as if it might work ... hence it is worth a try.

Re: cloning an L1000 or L2000 to an rp5470?
The PDC on the source does not get tranfered with an ignite. That is hardware firmware. The oter thing you could look at is your ignite version. It could be a bit old.
Did the error change after that patch was installed though ?
