Will I have too much trouble. Are the systems so different that it will not be possible?

the RP5430 is a L1500.

Just make sure you have all the hardware enablement patches for rp5430 are installed in the source system before creating the recovery tape.
Learn What to do ,How to do and more importantly When to do ?

This is not a problem.

You may need to do the installation interactively to deal with hardware differences.

Its the Ignite/Install Interface. Just intervene at the keyboard on the console when prompted.

Do remember you can't boot an HP-9000 server to an Ignite server on anything but the built in LAN card.
