how to boot from a tape on a 9000/735

I ran make_tape_recovery on my hp735 everything seemed to be fine but I can't boot from the tape. I tried a couple of different commands - boot P2 and a couple of things from ISL. I did mt -f /dev/rmt/0mnb fsf and then tar tvf /dev/rmt/0mnb and everything looked fine then mt -t /dev/rmt/0mnb rew and the copy_boot_tape -u /dev/rmt/0mnb -b -d /tmp/ignitetest and again everything looks fine.

What are the commands I have to enter after interrupting the boot sequence?

Hi Peter,
After you interrupt the boot sequence. run command "search" then "boot p2".

Break the boot sequence.
type sea
find the tape device (sequential media)
boot ??

If I had only read the instructions first??

Re: how to boot from a tape on a 9000/735

it doesn't work
after b P2 , I get a couple of encouraging messages then a system panic:
trying scsi.3.0
boot path
hard booted
ISL Revision A.00.43
boot
:tape(2/0/1.3....;0)
INSTALL - these are the encouraging messages
then the system stalls for 2 minutes
then I get a blank screen for 3 minutes
then I get screen-full of messages including
IO hardware probe timed out at path 2/0/1

I don't believe there is any problem with the IO on my system

make_tape_recovery doesn't work for the 9000/735 so I will use my old and trusted ode copyutil to make a recovery tape

In the meantime I have made a copy of vg00 following document LVMKBRC00007285
