i got the gzip file too large error when doing a make_net_recovery. according to other threads i have done the following:
on ignite server: /var/opt/ignite largefiles and vxfs 20 gb free on that volume
gzip 1.3.5
created link /usr/contrib/bin/gzip -> /usr/local/bin/gzip
ignite server 6.6.9.3
i can create files greater than 2 gb on /var/opt/ignite
on client:
gzip 1.3.5
ignite utils 6.6.9.3
and i still get the error when it gets greater than 2 gb

Re: ignite 6.6.9.3 on hp-ux 11.11 with gzip 1.3.5
can you post the session of make_net_recovery in order to see the point where it complains "file too large"?
Since largefiles is enabled on Ignite-UX Server then the problem probably is on client about the following two points:
- largefiles is not enabled on the client (on the filesystem where Ignite-UX tries to write);
- gzip used is another version even if you installed 1.3.5. I faced the latter situation; in that instance there were two gzip versions and the system was using the older one as it was first on the PATH variable.
What I wrote here is just an experience and hypothesis...not sure that is the real problem but looks for the make_net_recovery session can clear more.
Best regards,
Fabio

Re: ignite 6.6.9.3 on hp-ux 11.11 with gzip 1.3.5
I think the problem is that the client doesn't recognize the largefiles setting on the /var/opt/ignite NFS filesystem.
Please read the doc
4000043685 - Error from make_net_recovery: gzip: stdout: File too large
Do you launch make_net_recovery by at/cron?
HTH.

SolutionI have rarely found that the gzip Ignite uses would abort because of a largefile. I wrote a very detailed note about this, and if you can chug your way thru it, you may find it informative:
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=713940
In that note about, please read the 3 sections posted by me.
