ignite C.6.0.109 questions

Hi all:

HPUX 11.11 running on rp7410
Have ignite C.6.0.109 installed.

2 questions.

1) The makerec.log1 and makerec.log2 files are not being created. What is missing?

2) I am doing an ignite of vg00. Pretty much a standard OS load with no additional applications to worry about. The issue is that the ignite completes in less than 5 minutes. Seems awfully fast! Yet the output says that 48198+0 records in and out.

I don't trust this. Any ideas what could be happening?

Many thanks all!

Re: ignite C.6.0.109 questions

If the amount of data being written exceeds the bandwidth capacity of the tape media, I'd suspect the backup is no good.

I would not trust this tape until it proves itself capable of recovering a aystem.

How much data is being backed up?

What is the commandline being used to create the tape?

Re: ignite C.6.0.109 questions

Hi SEP:

The amount of data is ~6346005 KB
The command line is;
make_tape_recovery -A -I -D "description" -a

This is an internal DAT4 drive.

I do not understand your bandwidth statement. Could you elaborate?

Re: ignite C.6.0.109 questions

what happens if you use,

make_tape_recovery -x inc_entire=vg00 -D "XXX" -I -v -a "device"

Re: ignite C.6.0.109 questions

Hi all:

Using the inc_entire=vg00 is the trick.
I was under the belief that vg00 is automatically picked up but I guess not.

Many thanks!
