ignite error

I have ignite error of hostname not found. The message is like:
***************************
"ERROR: Could not contact host "hpux200". Make sure the hostname is correct and an absolute pathname is specified (beginning with "/").
***************************

Recently I change hosts from a single name to fqdn on /etc/hosts. nslookup returns fqdn, but hostname still returns single name, even after I restart network (not reboot).

Question is does this ignite tape works when I apply?

Thanks,
Steven

Re: ignite error

Hi Steven,

Have you tried entering both the FQDN and the short name in the /etc/hosts file,

IP_Address long_FQDN short_name

for eg.

10.5.4.5 server.domain.com server

Hope this helps.

Re: ignite error

Yes, I did. For a 2nd thought, I put server in dmz and dmz setting may worth a look too.

Thanks alot.

Re: ignite error

run the set_parms utility to change the hostname permanently. The system doesn't rely on a single system name in a specific location, partly because different services use dissimilar name formats. Hope this helps.
