Hi ,
We want to take ignite backup of 30 hpux hosts 11iv2 .
How can we achieve it from centralised location ?
Have heard of ignite server , is it the same ?
Can i just take ignite image of all 30 hosts keep it in a tape and mayb be restore from it if needed ? just iike our AIX team takes mksysb backups and they keep the image on san mountpoint and from them on to tape .
Kindly clarify .
P.S. This thread has been moved from HP-UX>System Administration to HP-UX > ignite. -HP Forum Moderator

Re: ignite image to be taken for all hp-ux hosts
correct, just create a Ignite server with enough diskspace and make the net-ignite tapes.

pff, there must be some sort of installation guide or whitepaper. I will have to search for that.

Re: ignite image to be taken for all hp-ux hosts
Thanks Torsten.
Do you have any guide which is much simpler than the whitepapers ?

Re: ignite image to be taken for all hp-ux hosts
I am not sure how specific you want the guide to get, but from the page you get by clicking the link provided by Torsten, click on Ignite-UX Manuals. From there look for the Ignite Administrators Guide.
Check out chapters 3 and 4.
If many of your servers are of the same model, perhaps you would consider creating a Golden Image, thus allowing you to restore a base config to any host. From there you would just need to setup individual host and network settings. This might be easier than managing 30 archives, but that depends on what you need. Find details for this in chapter 11.
