ignite net_recovery hangs at save_config

saving entire vg00.
Ignite Version B.3.7.96.
No errors.. just the save_config command that does nothing even after 16 hours!
Ignite GUI shows all green.. but remains ACTIVE on Save the System Configuration.

mount on client attached:

FIN_WAIT_2 states seen between client and server.

Nothing in syslog.

Help appreciated.
Later,
Bill

Re: ignite net_recovery hangs at save_config

Bill,
I've had this same problem ... and the reason in my case was that the networksettings (this was a new installation) had not been set correctly. After changing those to 100FD (100Mbit, full duplex) and restarting the ignite backup ... everything was fine.

Check /etc/rc.config.d/hpbase100conf (well, this is the file in my case, it may be different in yours) for the setting.

Hope this is the problem in your case too.
Regards,
Tom

Hi,

Can you post the output from nfsstat -r ?

Re: ignite net_recovery hangs at save_config

Hi,

Did you check the syslog file of the client ?
Anything in there ?
NFS not responding for example ?

Re: ignite net_recovery hangs at save_config

yea, I know - winders solution - reboot client worked.

netstat -a | grep server
shows no fin_wait_2 states during net recovery.

hpbase100conf file and netconf are fine otherwise (empty or correct)

nfs worked, as in, the client directory was mountable and writable (with touches, cp etc), but for some reason the save_config didn't work before... this fin_wait_2 thing is a real pain in the ar se.

Re: ignite net_recovery hangs at save_config

I had a similar problem. save_config failed on the Ignite image server which contained the golden image.

It flashed an incomprehensible message and support had me remove vxfm from the system.

Then everything was fixed.

This was 11.11 64 bit.

Steven,

I would like to respectfully suggest that you refer to the last paragraph of the "Replying to a Post" section of Patrick Walleck's guide to ITRC Forums Etiquette:
