ignite/ux fails: pax_iux: out of memory

I'm trying to clone a system:

  from: rx7640 running 11.31 Sept, 2011. 32G ram, ignite: C.7.16.283

  to: rx8640, 40G ram

ignite server:

  rx3600, 11.31, ignite: C.7.16.283

The image creating completes without error. However, upon restoring to the new system I get the following messages:

* Processed 80% of archive
pax_iux: mem_get() : There is a memory allocation problem.
* Processed 90% of archive
* Completed 100% of archive
pax_iux: Out of memory
ERROR: Cannot load OS archive (Recovery Archive)

What does 'Out of memory' mean in this case? 

I've googled for pax_iux, but haven't come across any references to out of mamory.

How many GB of files are you trying to restore?
