ignite vPar issue

Hi,

I plan to ignite 11.23 onto a new vPar created in a rx8640 with an initial 11.31 vPar v5.02 - first vPar. The ignite server is running on 11.11 version 7.4.157 (latest). The issue is vPar booting from ignite server encountered following error message.
error message:
This kernel does not support all the capabilities required by this version of the vPar monitor (2.0)

Is that a compatibility issue? Any work around to install 11.23 in such an environment?
any comment is highly appreciated.

thanks
Lorne

Re: ignite vPar issue

what is your procedure? Are you using vparboot from and existing vpar? Sounds like it.

Sounds like it is an upgrade of vpar monitor issue if so.

Re: ignite vPar issue

Hi Michael,

vparboot is executed from the first vPar of 11.31. Th vPar software v5.0.2 is installed so I assume vPar Monitor v2.0 is the latest, is it not?

thanks

Re: ignite vPar issue

What vPar version you are using for your 11.23 vPar?
This must be the latest A.04.05 in order to be able to do a mix of 11.23 and 11.31.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Bonjour Lorne,

Maybe you should follow this recent thread, still open : This kernel does not support all the capabilities required by this version of the vPar monitor (2.0)http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1193881

Re: ignite vPar issue

The solution for the other thread was to disable hyper threading.
How about yours?

Could you post
# /usr/contrib/bin/machinfo
and
# setboot
from a running 11.31 OS?

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: ignite vPar issue

Lorne was working with me on this same issue - didn't know he posted here as well. :)

Issue is resolved - it was the Hyperthreading being not supported by 11.23 - so you have to turn it off for the whole npar...

Re: ignite vPar issue

As Geoff mentioned, the solution is to turn off HyperThread feature in a mixed HP 11i v2/v3 virtural partition environment.

thanks everyone!
