make_net_recovery hangs

I have set up my ignite server and successfully created my first make_net_recovery archive. The problem I have now is when I try to run make_net_recovery a second time to update the archive, the output and prompt never come back to tell me when it has finished. When I hit control+C to interrupt the process it then tells me it has completed successfully. Any ideas why this may be occurring?

which flags are you specifying for the command?

Try -v (for verbose) to see if you can see the progress it makes, or not.

I have been using the command as follows:
make_net_recovery -s -A -v

This is what is displayed on screen:
* Archiving contents of mchfmh5 via tar to
/var/opt/ignite/recovery/arch_mnt/2005-04-18,09:59.
**It hangs here, and after awhile I hit control+C and get the following**

NOTE: You are not allowed to interrupt this program at this time.
* Creation of system archive complete.

What version of Ignite-UX are you using?

It's possible that pax (used by make_net_recovery) is hung on one of the files that it's supposed to archive.

Try using lsof to find the name of this file.

# lsof -p

Do you have NFS running on the server/client machines? If so, is its performance OK? Try running nfsstat before and after your make_net_recovery to see if there are a load of NFS errors reported, also check /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log

Have you tried the gui version of ignite? This will allow you to monitor the log while the job is running.

Thanks for all your ideas. I learned some stuff. It seems like yesterdays problem has mysteriously disappeared. All works fine today. Go figure.
