make_net_recovery

Is there a way to recovery a system from a make_net_recovery archive without using a tape drive? The system still exist but I need to test that we can restore from the archive before getting rid of our make_tape_recovery procedures. Thanks

Ron,

Yes, but you'll need a server with a lot of disk space.

Re: make_net_recovery

Ron,

boot lan.IP_address install

so if your recovery host (where the acrhive is stored) is 10.2.14.17, then

boot lan.10.2.14.17 install

Note the period between the word "lan" and the IP address.

Also:

http://www.docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/B2355-90704/B2355-90704.html

click on "Using a Boot Helper" and follow the instructions on how to set a boot helper up.!

Re: make_net_recovery

I found that you have to do a search lan install before being able to boot from an ip address

Hi,

Look for more info at the ignite faq,

http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/iux_faq

And also look at the docs under /opt/ignite/share/doc

Hope this helps.
