I have a problem while taking recovery backup on a N class system. The /var/opt/ignite/logs/makrec.log1 gives following error
ERROR: "/var/opt/ignite/recovery/config.recover", line 239: Illegal
character: "e"
ERROR: "/var/opt/ignite/recovery/config.recover", line 239: syntax error
ERROR: Problems were encountered while parsing config file:
"/var/opt/ignite/recovery/config.recover".
instl_adm: Config file: "/var/opt/ignite/recovery/config.recover" cannot be pars
ed.
********
Ended Unsuccessfully - Thu Mar 14 09:20:46 2002
Line 238 and 239 of config.recover shows following
238 hw_instance_num += 192 "memory" 0
239 hw_instance_num += es "virtbus" 0
It seems the the address "es" for the virtbus)driver class sdm) which uses by "Enhanced-SCSI virtual bus" gives problem.
Can somebody give me a way out.
Thanks in advance

Re: make_tape_recovery command comes out with error.
Do you need the sdm driver in your system.
If not remove it from the kernel and try again to make tape recovery
That should at least give you the security of a recovery tape.

Re: make_tape_recovery command comes out with error.
I have one more N class system with same configuration as this.On that no sdm drivers.Do you think removing sdm can cause any problem on this system?
Do we have any option other than removing sdm from kernel.
Thanks,
Bonny

SolutionRemove it is a valid option if it is not needed or get a new iux version
This problem is fixed in Ignite-UX release B.3.5 available on the web at
www.software.hp.com/products/IUX.
From the release notes:
This section describes the recent Ignite-UX releases. Major changes
and defect fixes for each release are described here.
2.1 Versions A.3.5/B.3.5 (10/2001)
==================================
[snip..]
save_config now sets the above driver parameter. A check was also added
that ensures that the hardware path is of the format expected by the
parser for hw_instance_num. This fixes the problem introduced by the
sdm driver which has a hardware path of "es" for the virtbus class.
