make_tape_recovery error at make_medialif

I'm hoping someone has experienced this problem before and has a solution, although I have not been able to find it within here.
The error I'm getting is
"make_medialif: error - /opt/ignite/boot/boot_lif does not exist, is not a regula
r file or is not readable
ERROR: System Error, /opt/ignite/bin/make_medialif failed creating boot LIF
file.
ERROR: Failed to generate LIF on tape .

The system is an rx5670 with an external DDS4 drive and running HP/UX 11i V1.6. The tape drive works fine, as I have been able to create a cpio backup without any problems.
I downloaded the latest Software Depot of Ignite yesterday for Sept 2003. You assistance on this will be much appreciated.

Hi,

Could you give us a ll of /opt/ignite/boot/boot_lif ? Also try a swverify of the product to check if something could have been corrupted.

Hi,

I think this is a known issue with one of the Ignite versions for Itanium. The Itanium machine actually does not need the boot_lif file but make_medialif still checks its existence. So the workaround would be to copy any PA-RISC boot_lif file into place, that should do the trick.

I meant you could copy it over from another system (with a different ignite version).

If you do not have such a file you can either try my attachment, or download another Iginte version from http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/index.html

uninstall ignite and download it afresh.

Get the software from

http://software.hp.com/products/IUX/download.html

On my system I found that this file is installed with the file set

Ignite-UX.BOOT-KERNEL-PA fileset

Install this fileset.

Install Ignite-UX.BOOT-KERNEL-PA fileset is for PA-RISC systems.
Think you are on Itanium with the IA fileset similar to this

Then select this file-set from the depot software and make sure that you change the swinstall options

"Allow installation of incompatible software=true"

which should install the PA version fileset and place the boot_lif file in the directory.
