make_tape_recovery success;but "Load of DLT Tape Drive failed: Not Found"

Hi members of HP-UX brethren,


Yes, I had done the make_tape_recovery -
the command on two tapes (on two 11.23 IA servers) accessing the same DLT VS160 showed successful.

However, when I tried to boot from the tapes (both of them) from the "DLT Tape Drive", which I added at the Boot Manager,
I get this error:
"
Loading.: DLT Tape Drive
Load of DLT Tape Drive failed: Not Found
Press any key to continue"

I also tried the boot from file option, getting the message:

Device Path Acpi(HWP0002,PNP0A03,600)/Pci(1|0)/Scsi(Pun6,Lun0)

"Load failed [Not Found]. Press any key to continue.."

Can you good people guide me thru?

add a new entry in the boot menu, fo r the tape which you like to to boot.

Hi,

I already had tried that option.

I asked the admins here if they ever had tried to recover the Oracle backup - they said the backup always showed success, but they never have tried the recovery..

Is there something fundamental I am missing related to the tapedrive like firmware upgrade, tape drive checks?

hi,

if you are creating the ignite backup on the tape, and you need two tapes for the backup, its ok, but only the first backup tape is bootable.

is the tape rewinded to first sector ??

attache the tape drive to another server and check the status :

an example :

mt -f /dev/rmt/0mn stat

and if the tape dont have sector 0

rewind the tape to beginning.

mt -f /dev/rmt/0mn rew

and them try to boot on your server.

Extremely sorry for the delay...

Mistakedly, tried to access tape drive connected to the other server - not the one I was working on..
