hi to everybody,
is it possible to make make_tape_recovery with device dlt80?

Alessandro,
the only restriction on tape is that the device has to be available at boot.
So, as long as your DLT drive is listed as a valid bootable device, it will work.

In other words one can make make_tape recovery image on DDS tape or on DLT tape.

Yes, you can make an Ignite recovery tape on any tape drive that works with your HP-UX system. But that is only half the question. The real question is: Will a DLT-80 work as a boot device on all machines, and the answer is no. While it is quite possible to create the tape, the processor ROMs may be unable to talk to the DLT-80. It may possible to upgrade processor firmware to allow bootup from this tape but you need to check this out. What are the model numbers of the machine(s) you plan to boot with the DLT-80?
