parisc : lan boot install from dhcp

Hello,
I want to install an HPUX server from a Linux dhcp server:
I have one ignite 11iv2/11iv1 server for the lan os install (depots server), but i want to boot (nbp.efi or boo_lif) on lan from the dhcp server (linux).
For IPF servers (itanium), there is no problem , the dhcp service (tftp) retrieve the nbp.efi, but on PA-risc server there is a timeout message and no more info ....

First step : DHCP protocol - OK
Second step : bootp protocol - OK (IP is ok)
Third step : tftp protocol - Problem on PA-RISC

error messages are:
On the dhcp server
tftp: Serving /UXv1/boot_lif to x.x.x.x
tftp: timeout: retrying ...

on the Pa-RISC server:
BOOT IO Dependent Code (IODC) revision 2
IPL error: bad LIF magic.
Error Reading IPL

thanks for your help !

Re: parisc : lan boot install from dhcp

Hi,
on pa system whether it is able to see the ignite server.
From pdc:

Main menu> sea lan install

let me know the result.

Re: parisc : lan boot install from dhcp

the result of : sea
P0 lan.IP_OF_LINUX_SERVER LAN Module

When i configure the dhcp service on the ignite server, there is no problem on PA/IPF.
But I want to use this service from the linux server: there is no problem on Linux install for IA32/IPF and on HPUX 11iv2 install for IPF but for PA-RISC ????

Re: parisc : lan boot install from dhcp

If you are trying to ignite pa system with 11.11 from Linux server then i doubt about the compatibility issues. Not very sure about it but looks like impossible one.

Re: parisc : lan boot install from dhcp

I want only the boot lan install step from this dhcp linux server.

On my IA, there is no problem :
lanboot select ...
broadcast ok
DHCP = bootp + tftp = OK for nbp.efi
tftp of fspwa.efi ok
hpux.efi ok ..
boot on ignite menu from the ignite IA server ok

On my PA there is no problem on the lan boot install if i use the ignite server but ther is one timeout on the linux server

Vincent,
sorry couldn't get the situation clearly..
Please tell me whether your linux server is ignite server or boot helper machine.
And what hpux version you are trying to load.

Re: parisc : lan boot install from dhcp

There is one ignite IA server who can delivred 11iv1 11iv2 install, all the last release (2 years ago)

When i configure this one to delivred dhcp service, for lanboot install there is no problem !

I don't want to use them for the lanboot step

There is one systemimager IA32 linux (dhcp server) who can delivred linux (redhat an debian) for IA32 and IA from lan boot install

I want ugrade this linux server only for the dhcp service: lanboot install (not OS HPUX delivry)

The lanboot request nbp.efi is ok, and the os install is from the ignite server (IA).

But the lanboot request boot_lif is timeout

Re: parisc : lan boot install from dhcp

This is not possible.

systemimager IA32 linux is working fine as far as DHCP services are concerned since you see it thr' "sea lan install" but will not able to deliver HPUX and even not redirect you to the existing Ignite server.

Re: parisc : lan boot install from dhcp

I have a boot helper on linux dhcp server for ignite 11iv2, that work fine !
