How does the print_manifest command get the serial number for the machine, and is it very reliable?

As far as I know, if you want Ignite's 'print_manifest' to report the server's processor serial number, you must include it in the file: /var/opt/ignite/local/manifest/manifest.seed.

For instance, a seed file would look like this:

DOM "March 17, 2001, 02:25:47 EST"
IGNITE_REVISION B.2.2.161
SERIAL "1234A56789"

So if we replace the cpu's in the machine we should edit this file to reflect the new serial number?

Hi Greg

No you cannot change the serial no. of the machine by editing this file. Also the CPU is not associated with the Serial No . I think the same is ona EEPROM on the Mother Board and only HP CE is authorised to change it.

Manoj is correct. The 'manifest.seed' file is a good place to put the serial number for reference and reporting. It is for query-only purposes. You are responsible for its correctness.

You have serial number in L-class,N-class no in K-class,R-class,D-class.
