As far as I know, if you want Ignite's 'print_manifest' to report the server's processor serial number, you must include it in the file: /var/opt/ignite/local/manifest/manifest.seed.
For instance, a seed file would look like this:
DOM "March 17, 2001, 02:25:47 EST"
IGNITE_REVISION B.2.2.161
SERIAL "1234A56789"

No you cannot change the serial no. of the machine by editing this file. Also the CPU is not associated with the Serial No . I think the same is ona EEPROM on the Mother Board and only HP CE is authorised to change it.

Manoj is correct. The 'manifest.seed' file is a good place to put the serial number for reference and reporting. It is for query-only purposes. You are responsible for its correctness.
