problem while installing c3700 with ignite-ux

hello,
i'm in big trouble with our new c3700. in the past we always had c3600 or c3000 and there was no problem to install them with our ignite image.

now, with the new workstation, procedure looks as follow:
there is no problem to install the system, the client finds the server, everything is fine. then, when rebooting, the system falls in system panic and there is no way to boot it.

i already installed the latest ignite version ( B.3.6.82 ) and also tried to install another (old) system new - no problem.
i installed the c3700 with the standard-installation from hp (which is on the system when delivered), made a tape recovery and a system image. they both were installable. but not with our image.

perhaps there is a simple patch to install for the kernel - i don't know. i already searched the patch database but i didn't find there any useful looking patches for this problem.

has anyone seen something like this before?

every hint would be great - i have no more ideas ....

thanks!

Re: problem while installing c3700 with ignite-ux

Hi

I would guess that it is a device path error.

Are you trying to build these from an image of another machine?

Re: problem while installing c3700 with ignite-ux

problem solved!
with the help of the hotline, we found out, that the patch-bundle "B3782HWE" was missing on the mother-system from which the image was created.

because of this, the new processsor (PA87) was absoltuely unknown in the kernel.

now everything works fine.
thanks!

Re: problem while installing c3700 with ignite-ux

HP answer to this problem is the following:

FAQ du produit d"installation Ignite/UX
http://docs.hp.com/en/IUX/faq.html#d0e955

1-14. ├В Q:
Why can I not use Ignite-UX with my Rev. A C3700/J6700 systems?
A:
The Rev. A C3700 and J6700 models were two short-lived systems that had the PA-8700 2.2 chipset revision and 1.6 firmware revision. They were only supported on HP-UX 11.00. Since the WINSTALL kernel is 11i v1-based and PHKL_27152 (or one of its predecessors) is included in that kernel, it is not possible to boot the installation kernel on these systems. They must be upgraded to Rev. B, which includes the PA-8700 2.3 chipset. There is a service note, A7277A, which addresses this situation.
