Re: recovering lvm information

looks like you may have lost connectivity to some discs.
What discs are shown from the lvmtab file?
strings /etc/lvmtab
or in your case, having moved lvmtab:
strings /
Then having got the list of discs, can you see them? use ioscan -f, or -H down the hardware path

Re: recovering lvm information

Make sure the device files under /dev/dsk and /dev/rdsk are available. If not run insf -e to recreate them.
Also check to make sure that the raw and block logical volume names are there under /dev/vg00 for root volume group.

Re: recovering lvm information

Hi,

As already pointed out vincente i doubt if you have accidently lost disk device files.
Check /dev/dsk and /dev/rdsk directories and see if you have desired files present in it.
You can run "insf -e" to recreate device file. This is harmless command so i would suggest you to run it once and then do "vgscan -a".

Please update what happens so that forummer can suggest you the proper direction.

Re: recovering lvm information

Please provide some information.

What kind of server & storage you are using?
How about "ioscan -fn", "strings /etc/lvmtab", "setboot", ...

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
