Re: restore Ignite image

you mean all 3 VGs contents to vg00? or only vg00 you want to restore ?

Where is your ignite image ? on tape or ignite server ?

Re: restore Ignite image

Yes i mean all vgxx in vg00. because what is interesting me is just the data that i wanna recover and i want to restore in another server that is also an RX like the origine server but not with all the disk space and number.
but the space is enough to get the data.
i have the image in tape.

Re: restore Ignite image

I am not sure your requirement is possible using ignite in a single step. But I will go as follows;

1. Restore only vg00 to the new server using ignite
2. Restore the files in vg01 and vg02 using tar.

thx

Re: restore Ignite image

Hi,
It's an idea that i appreciate but i don't know how to do it?
specially for using tar with tape in order to restore data from vg01 and vg02.
Another question, Did it gonna respect the mount point?

Re: restore Ignite image

1. Restore only vg00 to the new server from ignite backup

= Follow the standered procedure of restore ignite back up from tape.

2. Restore the files in vg01 and vg02 using tar.

= Create mount point manually

= Extracting single files from the tar archive
# /usr/bin/mt -t /dev/rmt/0mn rew
# /usr/bin/mt -t /dev/rmt/0mn fsf 1
# /usr/bin/tar xvf /dev/rmt/0m filename1 filename2

This needs to be 22 for Integrity servers.

You may want to use pax(1) instead of tar. Especially if the files are huge.
