restore with Ignite on network

Hello
I want to restore my OS on a new machine using ignite, but the new one doesn??t have acces to DDS tape.
Can I use Ignite on the network for recovery?

Sure, see man make_net_recovery.

Make sure you have the latest version of Ignite first.

It is indeed possible to make ignite backups via network to another server and thus also possible to boot form network.

try $man make_net_recovery and read all about it

Hi,
A Ignite network archive can only be used for restoring on the same client (it is identified by the MAC adress). There is "workarounds" for this but the correct way, for restoring to another machine is to create a "Golden Image".

Yes you can.

You need NFS enabled on the machine with the dds tape or image.

You need remsh enabled on the server being restored you want to push from the ignite server, which I find easier to manage.
