suggestions for IA64 rx3440 ignite-ux recovery tape drive
Management wants to buy a tape drive (preferably DLT/SDLT) that can be used to create an Ignite-UX recovery for several rx3440 development systems. I'd like to be certain that the drive will also actually work as a bootable device as well. I've heard that some (possibly non-HP) drives will not be recognized as boot devices by HP systems. Anyone out there doing anything like this? Looking for a reliable VAR who can source a drive and cable as well.

Re: suggestions for IA64 rx3440 ignite-ux recovery tape drive
Such system does not exist.
There is a
rp3440 (RISC)
or a
rx3600 (Itanium)
What do you have???
I would get with a HP branded drive, nn-hp drives are probably not bootable.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: suggestions for IA64 rx3440 ignite-ux recovery tape drive
The number was emailed to me by one of the techs. Just got back from the development lab and found that there were 2 machines: an rx w/SAS and an rp w/LVD. So they'd been misinterpreted by the tech. I did find a source for the drives;

and they seem to have what the lab needs.
Thx.
