zx2000 ignite builds fails.

I'm trying to build an 11.23 client from a itanium ignite server using Ignite B.5.4.50. Both client and host are zx2000. I followed the instructions in B2355-90837. I reserved the MAC/IP for the client using ignite. There is an entry for it in /etc/opt/ignite/instl_boottab:
10.65.65.141:0x00306E38CA42:20040916103202:reserve
And the /etc/inetd.conf was set up by the server configurations with this line:
"instl_boots dgram udp wait root /opt/ignite/lbin/instl_bootd instl_bootd"

That doesn't work. I changed the line to:
"bootps dgram udp wait root /opt/ignite/lbin/instl_bootd instl_bootd"
as given in the doc. That didn't work.

One problem that keeps poping up is that the client gets an ip from a Windows 2000 DHCP server that is in our environment. Is there any way to make the zx2000 just make a bootp request? It's probably possible to configure the boot info on the Windows DHCP server but I don't want to do that unless I have to.

Re: zx2000 ignite builds fails.

Need more info on how you are trying to get the target to communicate to the server.

Have you tried starting from the target, as outlined in this section of the doc you are using http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/B2355-90837/B2355-90837.html

When you say, "that didn't work", did you get any error msgs? What are the symptoms of failure?

Re: zx2000 ignite builds fails.

IPF systems use PXE broadcast for boot services ( extension of bootp ) and since DHCP is also a bootp service, the first one (DHCP or bootpd) to respond wins. Using /etc/bootptab is a
possible way to setup IPF boot services:

/etc/bootptab:
IADEF:\
ht=ethernet:\
hn:\
bf=/opt/ignite/boot/nbp.efi:\
bs=48:\
sm=255.255.248.0:\
gw=11.1.98.1:\
ds=11.1.98.11:\
dn=corp.com:\
vm=rfc1048:

sysname:tc=IADEF:ip=11.1.52.205:ha=00906E4A3393:

/etc/inetd.conf (bootp entry):
bootps dgram udp wait root /usr/lbin/bootpd bootpd

Then run 'inetd -c' to refresh.

You can also setup a dhcp IP pool on B.11.23 server, with the class ID set for your IPF systems.

dhcp_device_group:\
re:\
ncid:\
class-id="PXEClient:Arch:00002:.*":\
lease-time=300:\
subnet-mask=255.255.255.0:\
addr-pool-start-address=192.168.1.10:\
addr-pool-last-address=192.168.1.20:\
bf=/opt/ignite/boot/nbp.efi
