Hewlett Packard Enterprise führt neue System-Kategorie für hybride Infrastrukturen ein

HPE Synergy is a uniform infrastructure for all applications and operating models, for traditional IT environments and clouds

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) today presents HPE Synergy, the first platform that was developed to operate both traditional applications and native cloud applications. This enables companies to take full advantage of a hybrid infrastructure. HPE Synergy builds on a breakthrough architecture that HPE developed from scratch. The platform uses flexible resource pools, software-defined intelligence and a uniform programming interface. It helps companies provide the right mix of traditional and private cloud resources at all times.

Never before have companies had so many opportunities to offer new applications and services, build new business models and open up new markets. IT departments are largely responsible for implementing these plans. They have to manage the balancing act between old and new: on the one hand, they should increase the efficiency of traditional systems and applications and reduce their costs. On the other hand, they have to create the basis for quickly developing and providing new services with mobile IT, big data and cloud.

"To meet business needs, CIOs and IT leaders need to offer services that are increasingly application-centric," said Jed Scaramella, research director at IDC. "If IT wants to remain relevant, it not only has to provide a reliable and cost-effective infrastructure that supports traditional systems, but also an infrastructure that is flexible and fast enough to be able to deliver services like a cloud provider."

Who these two to support different operating approaches, IT infrastructure has to be rethought. HPE Synergy is based on a new architecture called Composable Infrastructure, which is based on the following three principles:

1. Flexible resource pools

a. Computing, storage and fabric resources that can be combined and recombined for the special needs of an application
b. Ready for use immediately after switching on
c. Supports all types of workloads - physical, virtual and container

2. Software-defined intelligence

a. Analyzes the infrastructure requirements independently and configures them independently
b. Ready for use immediately after switching on
c. Repeatable, smooth updates

3. A unified programming interface

a. A line of code that abstracts each element of the infrastructure
b. 100% programmability of the infrastructure
c. Bare metal interface for infrastructure as a service

HPE Synergy encompasses servers, storage and network and uses a uniform interface from HPE OneView to assemble physical and virtual resources in any configuration for any type of application. As an expandable platform, HPE Synergy supports a wide range of applications and is an ideal solution for customers who operate scalable, hybrid cloud environments and want to use DevOps.

"Market analysis clearly shows that a hybrid combination of traditional IT and private clouds will dominate the market for the next five years," said Antonio Neri, executive vice president and general manager of the Enterprise Group at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. “Companies want to benefit from the speed and agility of the cloud, but at the same time the reliability and security of operations in their own data center. With HPE Synergy, IT departments can deploy infrastructure as code and treat their own data center like a cloud. ”

Over-provisioning and reduced investment costs

In today's IT environments, over-provisioning and unused resources are the order of the day. According to the Natural Resources Defense Council, the average over-provisioning of a server is between 82 and 88 percent. (1) With HPE Synergy's built-in software intelligence, automatic resource detection and flexible resource pools, customers can ramp up the infrastructure and run physical, virtual and container applications. Thanks to a uniform interface, they combine physical and virtual resources and reduce over-provisioning by up to 60 percent. This means you can save up to 17 percent on previous investment costs and up to 30 percent on ongoing investment costs. (2)

Deploy applications at cloud speed

Today, business units expect IT departments to deploy the infrastructure to develop and deploy new applications faster. HPE Synergy provides software-defined templates and bootable images so IT departments can deploy infrastructure for any workload at cloud-like speeds.

Traditional infrastructures take an average of six weeks to get a new mobile application or service up and running. (3) This is a complicated process that requires many different tools and the collaboration of several teams. Because HPE Synergy uses a flexible pool of infrastructure resources, the platform quickly provides computing power, storage and network capacity. HPE Synergy uses application-specific templates with which the infrastructure can be provided and continuously updated. In addition, HPE Synergy provides customers with a library of operating environment images with which a single user can create specific infrastructure combinations.

Increase productivity and control

To make it easier for developers to deploy infrastructure, HPE Synergy offers a powerful, unified programming interface and a growing ecosystem of partners such as Arista, CapGemini, Chef, Docker, NVIDIA, Microsoft and VMware. The uniform programming interface enables the elements of the Composable Infrastructure to be identified, searched, provisioned, updated and examined, which are necessary for testing, developing and operating code. With a single line of programming, the innovative Composable programming interface can fully describe and provide the infrastructure for applications. This makes time-consuming scripting unnecessary.

Optimize HPE Synergy

The services for HPE Synergy include central support for the entire composable ecosystem at the customer, variable payment of resources ("pay as you grow") and support in the automation and optimization of infrastructure as code. HPE experts are available for training on infrastructure strategy and technology as well as for commissioning and 24/7 operation.

To make it easier for customers to invest in new technologies, HPE Financial Services launched the HPE Flexible Asset Return for Servers program. (4) The program helps customers to counter unpredictability in the introduction of new technologies through an increased level of investment management. Customers can respond to changing demands for speed, ease of use and time with the option to return a percentage of unused server capacity within twelve months.

Pricing and Availability

HPE Synergy will be available from HPE and global distributors in the second quarter of 2016. Prices will be announced at the time of product launch.
