Re: Having problem installing ICE Linux 2.00.01

I have progressed a bit further updated my hosts file

# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
::1 localhost6.localdomain6 localhost6

192.168.1.40 icelinux.hn.esc.sno
172.100.1.1 hn.cms.icelinux.hn.esc.sno icelinux
172.101.1.1 hn.pub.icelinux.hn.esc.sno

but now I get a different error (/opt/hp/icelx/logs/install.log)
23 Sep 2008: 05_sim_install.sh - There was an error initializing HP SIM.
Review the output above and correct the issue.
Refer to the installation guide for additional help.

from /var/log/hpsmdb

but I can
nslookup localhost

Address: 172.20.1.1#53

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: localhost
Address: 127.0.0.1

Re: Having problem installing ICE Linux 2.00.01

Looking a bit further I pointed my browser at the url and I was unable to log in using my pre defined userid and password

root -> hpinvent

seems like I have to use the system password (maybe i miss read the config stage)

Re: Having problem installing ICE Linux 2.00.01

Just some basics.

You don't want your system hostname to be 'localhost'. It causes all sorts of issues. Make sure you system and network look OK before installing ICE-Linux. That means, make sure you have a valid host name and that your hostname translates into a valid IP address (not localhost).

Then try to install ICE-Linux. When it asks which of the three network adapters you want to use, give it the one that will be used to talk to the managed systems primary NIC, NOT the iLOs and OAs.

Good luck...

Re: Having problem installing ICE Linux 2.00.01

Yeah I have hostname set to hn.cms.icelinux.hn.esc.sno icelinux

which is set in /etc/hosts and /etc/sysconfig/network

I have nic1 of each blade in a vlan 100, where the OA & ilos are, nic2 of each blade is in a different spot

Re: Having problem installing ICE Linux 2.00.01

I rang through the install process again, this time giving the current root password when it asked for the root password, instead of making one up and all is working fine, well installed atleast
