Monitoring HP ProLiant DL380 G5.

We have three HP ProLiant DL380 G5 servers. All three are running Citrix Xenserver4.1. Now we have been trying to get the management software working and get notifications when there are problems.
Now I found out a lot of the management software from HP isn’t working on Xen. Only the HPsmh (system management homepage) is installed and the HPadu (array diagnostic utility).
Especially the adu is very important because I like to know when a disk from my raid 5 array is broken. But I also would like to get a email when something goes wrong. So I need a way to get the notifications on as well.
Is there anyone who knows how to get this working ?
Greetings,

Herman

Hello Herman,

I'm not sure about ICLE, but if it's running ICE-Linux, you can tell by doing the following:

puma:~ # cat /etc/icelx-release
HP icelx 2.0 20080228 r8741

Re: Monitoring HP ProLiant DL380 G5.

Hello Herman,

I found a a few ways to tell if you are runing ICLE:

1. Look for a directory call /etc/rlx

2. Look for a directory /var/rct

3. Debian is the Base OS for ICLE, so if you have ICLE installed, you should be able to 'cat etc/debian_version'

Re: Monitoring HP ProLiant DL380 G5.

Thank you for your reply,

I dont have any of those directories. I am running Citrix Xen Server. Thats based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

when i do cat /etc/redhat-release i get:
XenServer release 4.1.0-7843p (xenenterprise)

The problem is that as var as i know there is no HP software that is supporting XenServer witout making a lot of custom changes.

So i ghes i need lots of workarounds to make it work.

Greetings,

Herman
