Video "issues" with dv6700 and LinuxMint LiveCD

I'm trying to get a LiveCD for LinuxMint to load on my Pavilion dv6700. I keep getting a box saying "Ubuntu is running in Low Graphics Mode" and then it hangs at the /etc/rc.local part of the boot. If I boot in Safe Graphics Mode I get a desktop with nothing on it. No icons, nothing in the task bar. Just a blank task bar, the LinuxMint wallpaper and a mouse pointer.

Has anyone installed LinuxMint on the dv6700 and if so what did you do?

Thanks for the help.

Linux mint is one best, hardware enabled distributions around. It detects hardware very well.

HP IMHO specifically built that box to NOT run any OS but Windows.

I think you are probably out of luck.
