Does remote support work on a VM?

Hi - having problems setting up Remote support on HP SIM and was wondering if the problems are due to it being hosted on a VM.
Any ideas?
Thank you!

Re: Does remote support work on a VM?

Remote Support Pack definitely does not run on a VM, it works only on supported hardware (see release notes).

Re: Does remote support work on a VM?

The next version of RSP, RSP5.40 (Kilby) which is going into Early Adopter on October 5th CAN be installed with HPSIM on a VM...it is set for Managed release towards the end of Novemeber.

Great news!

Does that also mean there is no requirement anymore for SMH? (We don't install SMH on VMs)

Re: Does remote support work on a VM?

The SMH is required on the CMS to display the ├в Remote Support Configuration and Services├в pages visible in HP SIM, and is required for Remote Data Collection (e.g., configuration collection for HP-UX and storage). It is NOT required for Remote Device Monitoring. In other words, you can do without SMH on the managed systems ├в ┬ж but still need it on the host for SIM and Insight RSA.

Take care,
