Events from HP SIM to SEA for Blade Servers (vmware)

Hello,

I have a question.
When a hardware failure occurs on one of our blade servers, the health status turns orange in HP SIM. But the event is not passed through to SEA.
It concerns a VMware ESX machine with the latest HP SIM agents installed.
In SEA the ESX server has SNMP as the only protocol, but it receives no traps.

Is SNMP right way to go or do I need to configure another protocol?

I have attached a screenshot on how it looks in SEA.

Cheers
Erik

On ESX its necessary to install the ProLiant support pack.

Go to the System Management Home SMH of your ESX Server and try to send a test event.
Settings -> SNMP You should see the event in SIM and SEA if do not see the trap you have a configuration problem of your agent.

Hi!

In SEA it stated that this is a ESXi.
In that case no SNMP agents should be installed. In ESXi only WBEM support is OK.
The managemnet for ESXi is built in with the latest CIM providers deliverd by HP.
But in SEA WBEM is disabled.
You have to rediscover the ESXi server again and have the correct WBEM account included in the credential in HPSIM.
After that it should be OK in SEA as well.

BTW: Check for update for your server. This update is new (30 april)
HP ESXi Offline Bundle for VMware ESXi 4.0 Update 1. This offline bundle includes the latest HP Common Information Model (CIM) Providers.

Best Regards.
