Monitoring issues
I have 3 DL360 p gen8 servers, running VMware ESXi 5.1.0 Build-1065491 Update 1. When I run the device discovery, I get the floowing errors:
- Protocol:
- Simple Network Management Protocol Version 1 (SNMPV1)
- Service:
- Subscription Manager
- Type:
- SUBSCRIPTION
- Status:
- FAILURE
- Description:
- Unable to determine whether the IRS host server is configured as an SNMP trap destination on biesx01.corp.pilatmedia.com.
- Detailed:
- Unable to determine whether the IRS host server is configured as an SNMP trap destination on biesx01.corp.pilatmedia.com.
and also
- :
- Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM)
- Service:
- Subscription Manager
- Type:
- SUBSCRIPTION
- Status:
- FAILURE
- Description:
- The WBEM subscription to biesx01.corp.pilatmedia.com has failed.
- Detailed:
- The WBEM subscription to biesx01.corp.pilatmedia.com has failed.
using the vmware cli I can verify that the IRS host is the target of the snmp traps -
Current SNMP agent settings:
Enabled : 1
UDP port : 161
Communities :
public
Notification targets :
10.15.15.228@162/public
Options :
EnvEventSource=indications
engineid=00000063000000a10a0f0f2a
loglevel=info
syscontact=Root<root@localhost> (configure /etc/snmp/snmp.local.conf)
any help will do
Thanks

Re: Monitoring issues
In ESX 5.1 and above SNMP is by default Disabled.
Did you enable and configure it?
But the better Way is to use WBEM.
Did you use the HP ESX Image with the Integrated HP Agents oder did you Integrate the the Agents other Way?
Look at Chapter 6 on
" HP Insight Remote SupportMonitored Devices Configuration Guide Software Version: 7.0.8"

Re: Monitoring issues
SNMP for communication. VMware ESXi uses
WBEM for communication. you can not use esxi with SNMP
